Entrance to Clarksburg Town Center from Clarksburg Road
Clarksburg Town Center is seeing some changes. The pool is undergoing a major face-lift. They will be installing a slide and making the pool the appropriate size to hold competitive swimming events. Next summer should launch the first year of the Tiger Sharks Swim Team. I grew up participating in swimming and diving so I am excited for the kids and families of Clarksburg Town Center.
The building is continuing with the Michael Harris single family homes and the Craftstar townhomes. Of course there are some resale houses on the market which typically come and go off the market pretty quickly! Please let me know if you are interested in seeing any of these new or resale properties.

We are ready to go - 60 degrees at 8am.
On Saturday October 9, 2010 I was one of over 8,000 bicyclists to participate in the Sea Gull Century in Salisbury, MD. My riding group consisted of Joe, John and Phil Sabelhaus and Jeannie Greenwell. Only John Sabelhaus had completed a 100 mile event before, so the rest of us were more than a little apprehensive about being able to complete the whole course. The weather was perfect – not too hot, cold or windy – and the road was flat. There were four rest stops at 20 mile intervals throughout the loop. The 4th rest stop was my favorite as they served wonderful slices of pie and ice cream! Just what a tired and hungry biker needed in order to finish the race. We are already planning to participate next year and raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network with mile pledges. Perhaps you would like to join us?

INSPIRATION FOR TODAY:
“People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it!”
~ Anonymous
WHICH ONE ARE YOU?
Some of the best minds suggest that when you have a dream, you should keep it to yourself. You should set about quietly achieving your dream, but without sharing it with others. Their reasoning is that when you share your lofty goal, you open yourself up to the ridicule and criticism of those who say, “It cannot be done.” This is distracting, and can negate your efforts.
Avoid the crowd who says, “It cannot be done.” Instead, spend time alone giving your dream a form. Imagine what it will feel like when your dream has been achieved. Picture it happening. Decide what actions you must take to set your dream in motion. Finally, “just do it!”
You’ll find that you don’t need the adulation of others when your dream becomes reality. Just knowing that you caused it will be enough. True – others will wonder how you accomplish so much in life, while they seem to struggle for the slightest movement forward. So be it.
As the Disney theme song says, “When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are. Everything your heart desires will come to you!”

Good Monday Morning to you. I have enclosed the latest statistics from our Metropolitan Regional Information System (MRIS) on Montgomery County. You will see that our local month over month and year to date statistics are not as awful as the national media would like us to think.

Some of the very positive stats to note are the lower Days on Market and the overall lower inventory. This keeps the market moving at a steady, healthy pace. If you would like to go over these statistics in more detail or would like specific stats for your neighborhood, please give me a call.
Enjoy your week and the coffee! ~Lisa

INSPIRATION FOR TODAY:
“If ever I go looking for my heart’s desire, I won’t look any further than my own backyard!”
- Dorothy (from the The Wizard of Oz)
HAVE NO REGRETS!
Have you ever made big plans to strike out in a new direction? Maybe you’ve dreamed of a better education, a new career, or the magic of some far away wonderland where life seems to come alive. You checked out your idea, researched all the possibilities, made plans, told your friends and family, and took the risk.
Soon after beginning your quest, however, maybe you realized it wasn’t for you. Guilt or embarrassment may have set in, and you weren’t sure what to do. After all, you already told everyone about your grand plans, and now what would they think of you for making a 180 degree turn in midstream?
John Greenleaf Whittier, in his well-known poem “Maud Muller,” wrote “For all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: It might have been!” His message? Take a risk! Strike out on your own if that be your desire. Give it a try! Don’t be afraid! In other words, don’t let fear rob you of the opportunity to learn what “might have been.”
Better to take the chance and have no regrets, than to fear giving it a try. If you later find, to your chagrin, that the new direction is not right for you, try looking, as did Dorothy, in your own backyard. Very often, everything you needed to be totally fulfilled already existed at your beginning point.
Remember – “There’s no place like home!”

Here comes the big, bad media! We all know that negative news sells, so be prepared that we will all be bombarded with bad news about the national housing market in the next several months. Each upcoming month’s stats are going to be compared to a month where the tax credit stimulus was in full effect. So naturally, the sales numbers in volume alone will all be down significantly. Interestingly enough, our Washington DC area had a downturn in volume, but an overall increase in prices according to a recent Washington Business Journal article. Highlands at Clarksburg
Tucked nicely in the corner of Stringtown and Frederick Roads, you can find the Highlands at Clarksburg subdivision. This little gem of a community has escaped the dreaded proposed Clarksburg development districts and, unlike the larger neighboring subdivisions, is completely built out. It has a very nice mix of single family homes and townhouses as well as a small retail/office section. There have been 10 homes sold in 2010 year to date for an average close price of $451,590. That is close to all of the sales in 2009 which totaled 11 homes for an average close price of $430,545.

Just north of Clarksburg, Maryland is the town of Damascus. In fact, when Clarksburg High School opened, they pulled from the bursting student population of Damascus, Seneca Valley & Watkins Mill high schools.
This lovely home, 26813 Howard Chapel Drive, is located just north of town. The home has two lots which combine for just over 3/4 acres that are completely fenced. The backyard has been meticulously landscaped and hardscaped with slate, brick and shade structures. The extra large yard contains a shed and plenty of space to bring the soccer team for practice!
